NEW THREAT TO ANSTEY PARK The football hub proposal was again rejected by the EHDC planning committee at the meeting on 18th November. Hopefully this will be the last application trying to develop our beautiful park.
------------------------------------ Revised plans for development have been submitted to ATC and EHDC.
Coors plans: Football hub planning application See 'Action' page for more details ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (29 April 2010) WELL
DONE EVERYONE! The football hub proposal was rejected by the EHDC planning committee. Our beautiful park is safe from development. ----------------------------------------------- Coors plan for Anstey Park (while not on Diggers but on the dogleg of the Anstey Park extension), will still fence off a large area of Anstey Park with a 1.8 metre (6ft) fence. (see Relocation Plan) Alton United football club has perfectly good facilities at present, but Coors want to relocate them so that they can sell the Alton Town football club site for redevelopment, in spite of the fact there is a covenant to keep it as a sports ground. Anstey Park is a really lovely recreational area. The northern section in particular has an idyllic backdrop of fields and hills, inspiring a feeling of peace and tranquility. There is a large variety of birds in the area including some rare species (skylarks, cuckoos) and also a large number of bats, and there is a conservation area nearby. This park is used and enjoyed by hundreds of people from dawn to dusk every day of the year, as it has been for the last thirty years. It is one of the few safe areas in Alton where children can play ball games, ride bikes etc. in complete safety without anxious parents having to watch over them. This is a great asset, especially at weekends, evenings and school holidays. |
